About Lauren Schaefer, M.D.
Dr. Lauren Schaefer is a Hampton, Virginia, native and the daughter of two Navy sailors. She is pleased to return to the community that raised her and care for patients at Pariser Dermatology Specialists’ Newport News office during her temporary time in Hampton Roads.
Dr. Schaefer earned her undergraduate degree from Norfolk State University and her medical degree from Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine in Rochester, Minnesota. She completed her internship at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee and her dermatology residency at Mayo Clinic.
Dr. Schaefer believes dermatologic care should help patients feel comfortable in their own skin and improve their quality of life. She brings a compassionate, patient-centered approach to every visit. She is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the Skin of Color Society, and the National Medical Association.
Dr. Schaefer lives in Kansas with her husband and plans to return there to practice dermatology after her time in Hampton Roads. Outside of work, she enjoys baking brownies, playing Scattergories, and cheering for the Kansas City Chiefs.
