About Thomas W. Chu, M.D., Mohs Surgeon
Dr. Thomas W. Chu is a board-certified dermatologist and dual fellowship-trained Mohs Surgeon and cosmetic dermatologic surgeon. He graduated from Texas A&M University College of Medicine and received additional training in general surgery and interventional radiology before completing a residency in dermatology at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan.
Dr. Chu then completed a dual fellowship in dermatologic oncology and micrographic surgery and cosmetic dermatologic surgery at the Dermatologic SurgiCenter in Philadelphia, PA. He is also fellowship-trained in hair and scalp disorders from University of British Columbia, Canada. He specializes in the prevention and treatment of skin cancer, cosmetic dermatologic surgery and hair growth restoration. Mohs surgery is a form of microscopic margin-controlled surgery which enables Dr. Chu to remove skin cancer while preserving the maximum amount of healthy skin.
Dr. Chu enjoys teaching and has served the local dermatology community as an assistant professor and director of dermatologic surgery at the Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk prior to joining Pariser Dermatology.
Dr. Chu is board certified in dermatology in both the U.S. and Taiwan. He is an active member of several dermatological societies and has been invited to speak at international and national conferences. He has published more than 20 peer-reviewed journal articles and textbook chapters on articles skin disorders, cosmetic surgery and hair restoration contributing to the ongoing evolution of dermatologic care.
In his spare time, he enjoys reading, hiking, fishing, traveling, and spending quality family time with his wife and daughter.
