Vivace Microneedling Now at Newport News Office

PDS now offers Vivace RF Microneedling in Newport News
The award-winning Vivace RF Microneedling treatment is now available at our offices in Newport News and Norfolk.

In addition to our office in Norfolk, the award-winning Vivace RF microneedling device is now available at our Newport News office. Microneedling (a.k.a collagen induction therapy) is one of the top minimally invasive cosmetic procedures trending in the beauty industry. It addresses a variety of skin concerns simultaneously including acne scars, fine lines, wrinkles, pore size, texture, tone, and skin laxity.

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling creates temporary microscopic channels in the skin. This minimally invasive non-surgical treatment uses a device to create micro-wounds in the skin.  The procedure stimulates and activates the body’s natural skin healing ability to increase collagen and elastin. This results in a healthier more youthful appearance.

After the age of 25, the body’s production of collagen slows resulting in one to two percent loss per year thereafter. After the age of forty, elastin production diminishes causing a loss in the skin’s support structure resulting in skin laxity. Vivace RF microneedling can slow down the skin’s natural aging process non-surgically. Immediate results help patients of all ages and ethnicities maintain the health and integrity of their skin. Best of all, it’s virtually pain-free and has minimal downtime. This procedure also partners extremely well with our physician-dispensed skincare brands available to patients.  We offer cosmetic products both in-office and on our website such as Alastin Skincare® and SkinBetter Science® to enhance the results of the procedure.

What is Radiofrequency (RF)?

Radiofrequency is energy that provides heat to stimulate collagen production, leading to tighter, younger-looking skin. This technology amplifies the power of microneedling giving a noteworthy boost, helping patients achieve their skin goals at an accelerated rate compared to traditional microneedling with a pen. RF combined with state-of-the-art microneedling, allows patients to enjoy the Vivace experience and love their skin. The procedure requires multiple treatments, usually 3 – 5 sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart to optimize results. Improvements develop over three months and continuously improve over time. Results vary from patient to patient depending on age and the severity of the skin condition, skincare regimen, and lifestyle habits.

The Difference Between Vivace and Morpheus8

Pariser Dermatology Specialists offers two types of RF microneedling skin rejuvenation treatments. In addition to the Vivace Fractional Micro Needle RF device, we also offer Morpheus8 RF microneedling. How are the two devices and treatments different? The Morpheus 8 device is outfitted with 24 insulated needles while Vivace RF utilizes 36 gold-plated insulated needles. Insulated needles allow the RF energy to emit from the tip into the skin to heat the lower layers of the skin while protecting the epidermis (the outermost layer of skin). Insulated needles are a safer option for patients with skin of color who are at higher risk of hyperpigmentation. Both can help to correct aging, scarring, pigment, and textural concerns.

Morpheus 8 can go deeper in the skin, up to 4mm on the face and 8mm on the body. Going deeper enables the destruction of subcutaneous fat in the body. Vivace can also treat both the face and the body and penetrates to a depth of 3.5mm but does not reduce fat under the skin. Fat reduction in the face is not recommended so offering both Vivace and Morpheus8 allows us to cater treatments to your individual needs. The Vivace treatment also includes LED light therapy with anti-inflammatory red light or bacteria-reducing blue light. Morpheus 8 does not include LED light therapy. Morpheus 8 projects the needles into numbed skin via a stamping-like motion. The Vivace device uses a smooth robotic insertion which can yield less discomfort. A topical numbing anesthetic cream is applied 30-60 minutes before the RF microneedling procedure to help mitigate any discomfort and increase patient tolerance. Once the skin is numb, you might feel light pressure alerting that the device is operating. Most patients find both procedures to be comfortable with minimal downtime.

What is the Downtime After Vivace RF?

Downtime is usually 1 – 2 days, depending on the intensity of the treatment. Recovery supplemented with serums and protocols creates optimal results and a faster recovery. Intense treatments can take up to one week to recover. Vivace is safe to use in conjunction with neuromodulators (i.e. Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, Daxxify) and dermal fillers (i.e. Juvederm, Sculptra, RHA, Restylane). RF microneedling is administered safely two weeks post neuromodulators and one month post dermal fillers. Vivace successfully partners with Platelet-Rich Fibrin Matrix (PRFM), next-generation PRP by Selphyl, to enhance the results of the procedure, which is known as the infamous “Vampire Facial”. Selphyl is based on the principle that human blood and platelets possess all the essential elements needed for tissue regeneration and repair beyond the capacity of synthetic serums. Pariser Dermatology Specialists proudly utilize the Sephyl PRFM Kit to enhance patient outcomes to a greater degree at an accelerated rate for multiple procedures including SkinPen microneedling, RF microneedling, and scalp treatments that address hair loss.

What to Expect After Vivace

Vivace can help to reduce scarring from acne.

After the procedure, your aesthetician will apply a Soothe Mask and Boost Serum to reduce redness and soothe the skin while the channels are open. Refrain from applying makeup 24 hours post-procedure.  Once a series of sessions are complete patients usually see full results within three to six months. To enhance the longevity of the results yielded, essential skincare products are recommended that should be applied before, during, and after the series is complete. These products include an antioxidant serum, peptide serum, retinol serum, or retinoid prescription topical. A  sunscreen with an SPF of 30-50 should be applied routinely to maximize procedure outcomes. Aging is inevitable but it can be managed with a combination therapy of skincare and procedures. We recommend maintenance sessions to sustain the results yielded from a treatment series. Follow up treatments once every three to six months help to maintain the benefits gained.
