How to Treat Postinflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH) by Tina Watkins, FNP-C

Tina Watkins discuss Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation

Pariser Dermatology’s Certified Family Nurse Practitioner, Tina Watkins, discusses Postinflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH) and how to treat it.  PIH is temporary pigmentation caused by some kinds of skin injury such as sunburn or disorders of the skin such as dermatitis.  Uneven skin tone may also result from acne scars or other disruptions to the skin and is commonly seen in people with darker skin types.  Tina addresses the causes of PIH and how to stop its progression as well as how to reverse skin discoloration.  You can learn more about treating PIH from the American Academy of Dermatology here.
